Day 7: generations
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the Joy of Love theme for Monday was Generations. My favorite picture of Dorsey with one of his canine elders has always been this shot from his first trip to my family’s lake house in Virginia. During that trip, he met his uncle Galen (my family’s dog who was about ten years old) for the first time and immediately started mimicking everything Galen did—including riding at the bow of the motorboat with his nose into the wind.
After Galen died last winter, Dorsey searched the entire lake house for him, including docks and boats. Months later, he continued to look for Galen at my childhood home during Thanksgiving. Dorsey definitely misses his Uncle Galen. I wanted to incorporate the original photo into my assignment for Monday’s theme, and came up with this pose:
Here’s an outtake of this pose—I liked how I could see both of Dorsey’s eyes, but didn’t like the glare on the photo.
