Day 5: love to hate
Today was a busy day of attending a Villanova basketball game, going shopping for Super Bowl ingredients, eating a fantastic dinner at Xochitl, and preparations for tomorrow’s game watching, so I didn’t have a ton of time to take photos today. However, I did bring the Lumix camera that fits in my small purse, and managed to grab this shot while walking in the rain on the way to the ‘Nova game, which fit right in with today’s Joy of Love theme of Love to Hate:
This is the view I most often see of my husband, John, when we’re walking somewhere “together,” because he tends to be a little overzealous in his speed when we’re going somewhere he wants to go. In this case, I’ll concede that we were running a few minutes late to the game, so he had every right to walk fast, but it’s not a rare occurrence. It drives me nuts, because I can’t carry on a conversation with him when he’s walking so far ahead.
This shot must have been fate, because it’s in focus despite the fact I’m walking while hitting the shutter, I managed to capture John in a gorgeous position, there aren’t any water droplets on the lens despite the misty rain that was falling, and I only took two shots before John noticed and made me walk faster.
Dorsey also conveniently decided to fulfill today’s topic by stealing one of the flip-flops John wears around the house. He’s had a bit of a shoe (and sock) fetish ever since he was a wee lad, and seems to have an uncanny ability to detect an unattended piece of footwear in another room of the house. Luckily for us, he rarely does serious damage, usually leaving only a few little bite marks or some saliva.
This photo was taken at night with a flash that caused “pet eye” and overexposed most of Dorsey. With the help of some new Photoshop Elements actions I finally figured out how to install yesterday and a quick web tutorial on fixing pet eyes, I was able to edit the photo to this point, which looks a LOT better than what I started out with. I don’t love how the cropping cuts him, but I was having trouble getting rid of as much background as possible while keeping both the thief and his stolen goods in the photo. I may go back and fiddle with this one.
