Day 4: what they wear
I’m really enjoying Willette Design’s Joy of Love online workshop. Having the structure of daily prompts has been freeing me up to concentrate on the mechanics of photography—lighting, positioning, backgrounds, cropping, etc. And her tips help remind me of the things I already know but don’t think about that often while taking photos.
Today’s prompt was What They Wear. I was thinking it might be the perfect opportunity to finally get some pics of my husband, but the light and his schedule didn’t really cooperate. Perhaps this weekend?
Instead, I concentrated on the things Dorsey Dog wears, like his collar, which has 6 different tags hanging from it. Yes, it makes a lot of noise, but I like that. No matter where he is, I can tell if he’s getting himself into trouble by how his collar is jingling.
Dorsey acts like he’s paralyzed when we put a sweater or a backpack on him, but it certainly helps him behave better! At parties, we often use the backpack to prevent him from jumping up on tables and grabbing human food. Once John removes it toward the end of the night, Dorsey shakes it off, then starts acting like a maniac.
With today’s light issues, I wasn’t sure I would get a usable shot for this theme, so I was digging through last Friday’s snow day photos. Here are a couple backups I thought worked well with What They Wear. Sweaters have the same effect on Dorsey as backpacks do:
This photo, which was actually taken by my friend Holly but edited by me, is particularly cute, with Dorsey wearing my down vest after he got too cold playing in the snow at the park.
