Day 27: what they say
Dorsey is extremely vocal—he whines, he cries, he tries to speak English. When I picked John up from the airport the other day, I could swear Dorsey was trying to tell him exactly how much he’d missed his daddy. But the funniest thing he says is when he howls at any passing siren. Keep in mind, we live in the city on a fairly major traffic route, so we get more than our fair share of ambulance and police sirens.
When Dorsey howls, it starts off like a moan. He tries so hard not to give in to the instinct, that when it finally pops out of him, he looks very mournful. But when he really gets going, I just can’t help but laugh at how emphatic he is about it.
For this shot, I had to prompt a howl by playing an old video of him howling at a siren over and over again. He was not happy that I was forcing him to sing along, but he just couldn’t help himself.
