Day 24: where

For this Joy of Love theme, I went a little off my mission of taking Dorsey Dog photos. There’s not really a first spot I fell in love with him that’s photographable—I tried taking a photo of him peeking out from beneath my raincoat like he did when we first met him and he cowered underneath my legs. But those shots just weren’t making me happy. So, I took an easier route and pulled an old photo I took as an undergraduate at William & Mary. This is a photo of W&M’s famous Wren Building in a puddle after one of Williamsburg’s common rainstorms.

W&M is where my husband, John, and I first met. We were just acquaintances and didn’t get together until many years later, after he graduated from law school and I was living in New York City. But our shared experience as W&M alums and our many mutual close college friends helped bring us together and shaped our relationship.

This photo was taken with a point and shoot film camera back in 1995 or so, and was scanned from a scratched up 3″ x 5″ print, then enhanced a bit in Photoshop Elements. It’s always been one of my favorite shots of a very photogenic school, and I’m glad I was able to revisit it and, possibly, improve on it just a bit.
