Day 10: space
Today was the sunniest day we’ve had in a long while, though it was still bitterly cold. I didn’t want to take yet another photo of Dorsey sleeping for the Joy of Love, even though that does comprise a significant portion of his days. But when Dorsey settled himself into his favorite Space on our bed, nestled between our decorative pillows, with the sunlight streaming in over his head, I knew it was meant to be.
On the rare occasions we’ve given Dorsey free range when we’ve left the house, I’m pretty sure he sets up camp in this precise location because he always goes upstairs. We also always find him in the same spot on hotel room beds when we open the door. Once, while staying with generous friends of ours whose kitchen opening was slightly too wide to secure the doggie gate, Dorsey set off the burglar alarm. When our friend’s father stopped by the house to be sure it wasn’t really being robbed, he grew increasingly worried as he searched for Dorsey throughout the house to no avail. He finally found Dorsey lying on the bed, nestled amongst the pillows in the master bedroom, nonchalantly raising his head to see who had dared to invade his castle.
I really like the angle and background on this photo, though the lighting and his expression aren’t as striking.
For these photos, I was experimenting with metering off Dorsey’s fur so he would be exposed correctly and the sunlight would be slightly washed out. I really love how the light looks in this series.
I’m still trying to decide which one I like the best for this theme.
