Happy Holidays
I traditionally use a black and white photo I’ve taken in my current city and use it as the cover of my holiday card. In the past, I’ve featured such images as a Zamboni on the Rock Center ice rink, Radio City Music Hall, the Imagine plaque in Central Park (after 9/11), Geno’s King of Steaks (the most photogenic, though not my favorite cheesesteak place), the Liberty Bell (one of my all-time favorite cards), and even the Rocky statue. I’m picky about my photos, so I usually get the photos printed and hand attach them to the cards. In the early days, I even used blank watercolor paper cards and hand-wrote EVERYTHING, though I’ve started using pocket photo cards from Papyrus or Exposures in recent years. This year, I decided to test out some adjustments to my tradition.
So, for the first time, I’ve used a full-color photo (this is a REALLY big deal for me), of an angelic-looking mural down the street from my non-profit, Spells Writing Lab. I’ve also decided to try this newfangled printed photo card thing, so I’m having them printed at Shutterfly. We even included two family pics on the inside (including one with the Dorsey Dog), and I’m hoping the pre-printed messages will save some time in the mailing, particularly since we ordered late and won’t get the cards until it’s almost Christmas. Anyway, enjoy!
